Some Time Away

Last week we went on a road trip to meet some family at a Christian campground.
I also got a chance to meet a few of my blog readers! It was nice meeting those of you in "real life" and chatting.

It was a great few days away and when we left we felt refreshed.

I took more pictures on my "real" camera but for now here are my iPhone pics.

It was a 3 hour drive but with a 1 & 2yr old it felt more like a 6 hour drive.
This the very best toy ever! My Aunt Sue bought it for Bronson and I absolutely love it!
It's a heavy duty iPhone holder called the Appitivity. You can download free toddler geared apps on itunes, play a movie, or anything else you want. There's a plastic piece at the bottom of the screen that protects the round home button on the iPhone from being pressed.
Love it!

I could easily spend more time here.

Jon and I took a canoe out for a ride and we quickly learned that there was a hole in the bottom. Every couple of minutes we had to stop to get rid of water (I guess the bucket in the canoe should have tipped us off) but it was still a nice canoe ride. We decided to jump out in the middle of the lake to go swimming and I learned that I lack the skill and finesse of climbing back into a canoe and the next day I had a black and purple bruise on my leg the size of a baseball.

We spent lots of time with Jon's parents and his sister and her family (right photo - Jon's mom, and Kallie with cousin Emma). We were introduced to a popular local dairy store with delicious ice cream. The store was absolutely packed and after eating my ice cream I understood why!

Kallie has a milk protein allergy and you have no idea how excited I get when we go into an ice cream store and they have sherbert (or sorbet). Thank goodness for those options other wise I would have a very upset two year old!

Ok, this french onion soup was sooooo good! Just thinking about it now is making me want another bowl of it!

We are having a great summer so far and I'm sad that it's almost the end of July and the back to school supplies are already flooding the stores. At least we have another whole month of summer to make more memories with!

Happy 1yr to Bronson's #LiverTransplant

One year ago I was sitting in the surgical waiting room at Sick Kids for 10.5 hours as we waited to hear any news on how Bronson and his Auntie Sarah Beth (she donated a lobe of her liver to Bronson) were doing during the transplant surgery.

So much has happened in one year and there's nothing I could ever do or say to thank my sister for her liver.

It's an amazing day to know how thankful we are to have our little boy here with us!

Happy one year to Bronson's liver!

A dogs Best Friend

Life is busy and sometimes I feel like I don't have time for our dogs. But Dupree and Georgia have become Kallie and Bronson's good friends.

When I let the dogs in from outside Kallie is always beside me yelling at them to get inside.

When Dupree or Georgia are trying to relax in the same room as Bronson they don't get much alone time before Bronson is trying to pet (or harass) them.

As much as the dogs drive me nuts sometimes I love watching the smiles and fun that Kallie and Bronson have when playing with them.

#InstaFriday - July 13/12

Earlier this week I opened my car door to get something and thank goodness I saw this massive spider before I got into the car. There was a web from the seat all the way to the windshield. Umm...GROSS
I found a long piece of cardboard and managed to get the web and spider out of my car.
What did I learn from this? Never leave your window cracked open over night! The rest of the week I've been checking the car carefully for spiders before getting in!

Tuesday Morning I went into Kallie's room and found her sitting with her legs crossed drinking tea in her princess chair. She's getting too big too quickly!

The other night I didn't feel like cooking so Jon made me some Roasted Garlic Vodka Chicken Alfredo with tomatoes and mushrooms. All I can say is that it was Mmm mmm good!
Maybe I should not cook more often??

We went out for a kid free dinner with friends and family this week and do you think Jon could have ordered a bigger steak?

Kallie found a stash of dress up clothes in the basement that she forgot about and she's been walking around as a flower ever since. I love watching kids dress up and play using their imagination.

My little girl is getting big and at the park she didn't want to sit with Bronson and I on the grass.
No, she wanted to sit by herself on the bench on the playground equipment.
She's leaving me to be by herself already.

I hope that everyone has a great weekend! :)

A Build A Bear Adventure

Kallie is a shopper.

When she wakes up in the mornings she always says,
"I had a good sleep"
followed by asking,
"We go shopping today mama?"

We have a two year old addicted to shopping!

A couple of weeks ago we were getting ready to leave the mall when Kallie said to Jon,
"We go buy toys?"
We aren't the kind of parents who give in to every request for toys nor do we buy our kids something every time we go somewhere but, this time Jon said yes.

So, we walked over to Build-a-Bear.

After much debate (picking a stuffed animal is a big decision!) Kallie choose a giant pink Hello Kitty and patiently waited in line for the stuffing.

She put her toe on the pedal and filled that Hello Kitty up! Then she chose a heart and put it in Hello Kitty's back.
side note - the next morning I caught her trying to open Hello Kitty up to get the heart out and I had to convince her that Hello Kitty needed that heart to stay inside of her.

All stuffed with fluff and a heart!

We went to the computers to make a birth certificate and when Jon asked Kallie what she wanted to name Hello Kitty she said "Meow Meow".

Kallie wouldn't let anyone carry her barn with Meow Meow and struggled carrying it all by herself through the mall and out to the car. It was so cute watching her lug that huge box the whole way.

Prior to this we had never done a Build-a-Bear with Kallie because I thought she was always too young for the experience and wouldn't have fun and enjoy it. She loved the experience and I still catch her trying to get that heart out of Meow Meow's back! :)

We're Still Here!

Of course neither of them would look at the camera!
Yes, I'm still here! I feel like I haven't had time to relax in the last two weeks and my blog has taken a back burner. But, I'm back! It's amazing how busy life can get all of a sudden.

When I first went back to work I wasn't getting many hours but now that my hours have picked up I've been struggling to try and find a good balance between family, work, and house work. This week I finally decided to give up on trying to keep up with the house cleaning and laundry and enjoy my time off. My house isn't exactly perfect and could use some dusting but Kallie and Bronson are only this age for a short time and I'd much rather be spending that time with them.

This past week Bronson started taking 1-2 steps by himself thanks to his cool new Nike shoes I got him. He's being referred to physiotherapy again but I'll write a whole post about that in the next couple of days.

This heat wave is crazy and as much as I love being outside in the summer today I've opted to stay inside as much as possible! Try and keep cool and have a great weekend everyone! :)
