InstaFriday! 2 Days 'till Christmas!!

I can't believe it's the last InstaFriday before Christmas! Where has the time gone? Here's a look at our week through Instagram photos.

Bronson is already 7.5 months old! Now that I'm writing how old he is I just remembered that I forgot to post his 7 month picture and monthly update. I will try my very best to do that between now and Christmas day. Bronson can sit up by himself (without pillows around him like in the picture) for about 20-30 seconds now! Woohoo he's getting stronger!

I was watching Live with Kelly this week and the Radio City Rockettes were on the show. Kallie loves dancing and of course tried to copy their kick line! She's just too cute!

Bronson's 1st Christmas is almost here! You have NO idea how excited I am for this Christmas because #1) Kallie is almost 2 and she'll understand it a little bit better this year and #2) it's Bronson's 1st Christmas!
December 22 in Ontario, Canada and it was 8 degrees celsius! How crazy is this weather?! I absolutely love it!!

Our Interview on 100 Huntley Street

Today we had the opportunity to be on 100 Huntley Street and share a little about our journey with Bronson. (click HERE if you want to read about it on my blog)

Since Bronson was born in May of this year we have received many emails and facebook messages of how different peoples lives have been touched because of his story. It really is amazing how God can use the smallest of us for His bigger plan. I guess He really knows what he's doing! :)

Here are the links to our interviews we did today!

Christmas Giveaway: My Memories Suite 3 Digital Scrapbooking Software!

I'm excited to do my very first blog giveaway!
I receive emails all of the time from companies and individuals asking me to review and giveaway their products. I don't believe in promoting or giving away a product that I don't have a personal interest in or a use for. I love scrapbooking (although I haven't done as much as I would have liked since my kids have been born) so this was a no-brainer to say yes to!

First of all, I think that digital scrap booking is much easier than traditional scrapbooking because you don't have to worry about printing your photos or remembering to buy that specific embellishment in that particular colour to match the page that you half finished 6 months ago. At least that's the way my scrapbooking goes.

My Memories has a very easy to use digital scrap booking software called My Memories Suite 3. It's user friendly and very easy to navigate around the software. There are already made templates you can choose from and then all you have to do is click and drag your photos to where you want them. If you don't like something in a template you can change, move or delete it or even create your own template.

The software is also formatted for use with both a PC and a Mac. I'm a Mac user so that was a must! It also comes with a TON of themed kits for Christmas, birthdays and the everyday kind of things. You can also purchase kits or there are free kits you can download.

Here's a little bit of what I created:

I wish I had heard of My Memories Suite a month or two ago because you could easily use one of the templates, export it as a JPEG file, send it to a store to have printed, and then mail it out as a Christmas card! Or, think of all the birthday party invitations you could do!
This one was a pre-made template and all I did was add in the Merry Christmas and a photo. The tag portion already had a text box in it.

I love these pictures of Kallie! I think she was around 6 or 7 months old here.
I made this template myself. I found a background I liked, a lace embellishment, some swirls and added a quote and I was done. How easy is that?

I also made this template. Once again, I found a background, swirls, ric rac, and a quote. Even if you're not that great with computers, this software is so easy to make your own templates with!

Here I took a pre-made template, deleted some items, added some items and voila. My finished product!

As a special for my blog readers My Memories will give you $10 off the purchase of My Memories Suite Scrap Software and another $10 off for the My Memories Store! Just copy and use the following coupon code at the check out:

InstaFriday

Here's a look at our week through Instagram photos. As usual, I'm linking up with Life Rearranged for today!

Last Friday at our church Christmas dinner Santa made a little appearance. Bronson was all smiles - as usual, and Kallie wasn't too sure about him and sat there with her arms crossed!

Jon had to make sure Santa knew what he wanted for Christmas as well!

Kallie wanted to drink her milk but it was too cold. So, Mom to the rescue! At least her mittens are good for something this winter! This winter has been very warm  and this week in Ontario, Canada it's been averaging 10 degrees celsius! (that's 50 degrees for you south of the border)

 Me and my boy!

I was busy making dinner and forgot to put a big bag of flour away. All of a sudden I heard, "Oh no! Elmo, Elmo!". Poor Elmo! At least that was the only thing that happened with the flour, it could have been much much worse!

FYI - 100 Huntley Street
I know a lot of people have already heard, but in case you haven't, we're going to be live on 100 Huntley Street next Thursday, December 22, 2011 at 9am EST to share our story about Bronson. You can go here for the times and stations it's on. I will also post the segment after it has aired! :)

Do What's Best for Baby

I was reading updates on twitter this morning and came across a tweet by @parentsmagazine with a link to an article called Home Birth - I Don't Get it by Jill Cordes. I know that this topic can be quite controversial and I don't want to get into a debate over a home birth vs. a hospital birth. However, I do know that there are a lot of unknowns when it comes to labour and birth.

Kallie, May 2010, 2 months old
Even with the best prenatal care you still don't know 100% that you will have an uneventful birth or a healthy baby. Case and point: my pregnancy with Bronson. My pregnancy was uneventful with no morning sickness (sorry I'm one of "those people" who don't get sick while I'm pregnant, yes, you can hate me for that!), other than a 24 hour flu bug there was nothing else significant to report. All of the ultrasounds were completely normal. But, we still ended up with a baby who was born with cancer.

Everyone's experience with labour and delivery is different and no one can say that their 'method' is better than the next. I saw a post on a friend's blog called, 'The Easter Bunny, The Tooth Fairy, and Parenting Experts', and I think they said it the best, and that's to do what's best for the mother and baby.

Polyvore - My new Addiction

This weekend I stumbled upon a website that has quickly become an addiction. I read about Polyvore in a blog here and have spent a good portion of any free time I've had this weekend putting together sets of things I like. It's the same kind of idea as Pinterest but just another way to show off your style, whether it be through fashion, interior design or art.
Party Ready
For a day like TodayYou can use an already made template like I did above and you just click and drag your items to where you want them.

Or, you can create your own template like I did on the right.

Or why not make a wish list?

Everyone could use a little inspiration every now and then so check it out! :)

InstaFriday!

It's Friday again and as usual I'm linking up with Life Rearranged and sharing our week through Instagram photos.
This week I decided that it was time to get back into exercising again. As soon as I laid down to do some sit ups my dog, Dupree, came and laid next to me and put his head on my stomach. I laughed so hard that I didn't end up doing any sit ups!

Kallie helped me stretch before exercising!

I really love watching Kallie and Bronson play together! Bronson always wants to touch her and pull her hair and Kallie isn't too impressed when he does that!

Kallie never wants to keep her socks and shoes on when we're out shopping. It's either let her go barefoot in the cart and have a peaceful shopping trip or try and put her shoes on and have to leave the store because of a tantrum. I prefer to enjoy my shopping in peace!

Have you ever tried butter and pepper on your popcorn? My brother got me hooked on it and I love it!

Christmas Recipe: Spritz Cookies

I started doing some Christmas baking today and thought I would share a recipe I make every year, Classic Spritz Cookies. I like making them because 1) they're easy, and 2) one recipe makes 7-8 dozen cookies!

I've had this recipe for four years but I can't remember where I got it from. It might be from Wilton but i'm not 100% sure.

Classic Spritz Cookies
3 1/2 cups all purpose flour
1 tsp baking powder
1 1/2 cups butter softened
1 cup granulated sugar
1 egg
2 tbsp clear vanilla extract (I didn't have any clear today so I used the regular vanilla extract)
1 tsp clear almond extract
*You will also need a Cookie Press.*

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Cooking Time - 10-12 minutes. (depending on your oven, in mine they only take 9 minutes)

In a bowl comine flour and baking powder.
In a separate bowl beat butter and sugar with a mixer until light and fluffy.
Add egg, milk, vanilla, and almond extract; mix well.
Gradually add flour mixture to the butter mixture. Beat until thoroughly combined.

Fill cookie press and press onto an ungreased cookie sheet.

Different shaped discs you can chose from! Today I used the snow flake, Christmas tree and Christmas ornament shapes.

Ready to go into the oven!

Decorate your cookies as much or as little as you want!

Christmas trees ready to go into the oven.

The finished product! Yum!

Variations

1 cup granulated sugar
1 egg
3/4 cup shredded coconut

  1. In a large bowl cream butter and sugar together until light and fluffy
  2. Mix in egg, coconut and vanilla.
  3. In a separate bowl combine flour and baking powder and add slowly into butter mixture.

Two Peas in a....Toy Box?

Now that Bronson is starting to get older I love watching him and Kallie play together. When Bronson was sick I prayed that he would one day be healthy and be able to play with his sister, and now here we are!

Last night all four of us were in Kallie's room playing before the two kiddies went to bed. Kallie emptied out her toy box, climbed in, and pointed to the spot beside her and said "baby sit, baby sit" (although when she says sit it usually has an "h" in it!). So, I placed Bronson beside her and they looked so cute together and just kept taking pictures!

Sorry the lighting isn't the greatest in the pictures. There aren't any ceiling lights in any of the bedrooms in our home, only lamps (but there are brand new light fixtures in my crawl space waiting to be installed in the bedroms) so the rooms are always dark at night.

This one is my favourite!

Both of them were trying to get away!
They both love Elmo. There are probably at least 6 other Elmo dolls under them in that toy box!

Kallie was trying to sit on poor Bronson. I don't know how many times I have left a room for one second and I when I come back I find Kallie sitting on Bronson's stomach. I keep telling her that we don't sit on people, but apparently she hasn't learned that lesson yet! I think I'm afraid of her doing something to his brand new liver more so than anything else!

And, look at Bronson's face, he's had enough!!

Don't worry, Bronson is NOT in the box! As soon as she laid down on it she pointed beside her and said "baby, baby". I love that she always wants Bronson to play with her.
Can you find my dog in this picture? Go to the next one if you can't see him.

There's Dupree, all curled up and camouflaged!

A while ago I joined a website called 'Top Mommy Blogs' and I'd love to try and make it into the top 20. I'm currently ranked #322 so click once a day and help me move up my ranking!
