An Outdoorsy Day

Sometimes a daily walk just isn't enough for a dog, so every now and then we take our dogs to a park and let them run.

Our goldendoodle, Dupree, running after his ball.

Kallie loves running after the dogs (Dupree and Georgia) and trying to get their ball before they do. When she starts to get bored of running she picks flowers (dandilions) for her mama!

Kallie was putting her legs up in the air trying to copy how I was swinging.

Whenever it's time to leave the park it's always a huge ordeal to leave the swings. She'd stay on them all day if she could!

I love gorgeous days and spending time outside with my little family.

Tv Room: Paint Before and After

Two weeks ago in an InstaFriday post I mentioned that I was going to paint our tv room - finally - and I actually did! It wasn't until after I had put up our Christmas Tree that I decided to paint, but I just moved the tree around the room and it worked out quite well!

I bought the paint for this room in March 2010 with the plans to paint in the spring after Bronson was born. We all know how Bronson's birth and the months following turned out (if you don't you can read about it here), and obviously painting was the furthest thing from my mind!

BEHR Premium Plus paint, Eggshell finish in 'Dolphin Fin' colour from Home Depot. I don't usually buy Behr paint but I really liked it! You really only smell the paint in the room you're painting, not all over the house like other brands I've used.

Before
I just want to make it clear that I did not pick this colour - it was already pink when we bought the house!

I started painting this wall in July 2010, but decided I didn't like the colour and used it for my hallways instead. This wall has been half painted like this for over a year now! I'm so glad to have it all one colour now

Halfway There
The First coat of paint. My Christmas tree got moved around so much that all of the decorations got shuffled a little.

After
I thought these pictures were dark but now that I'm comparing the colour to the actual wall it's actually pretty spot on. There's no decor on the walls yet. My husband went to put stuff up the other day for me but he dropped the drill bit and we haven't been able to find it or another one that matches around the house. Soon enough my walls will have decor!

We also painted all of the trim in the room. It's amazing how much of a difference that makes! Now my next project is to paint the trim in the rest of the house.

Opposite side of the room from where my Christmas tree is. These doors go outside to our deck and backyard so there's always a lot of traffic through here in the summer! My kids were getting cranky at this point but Mickey Mouse Clubhouse makes everything better! :)

InstaFriday!

It's InstaFriday again! Our week wasn't very exciting and we didn't get out to do a whole lot (mostly because I had a butt-load of laundry to do!) so most of my pictures are just from around the house.

Here's our week review through Instagram photos!

Last week I said I wanted to paint our ugly pink walls in the tv room - and I did! The picture isn't the greatest, but the walls are "Dolphin Fin" gray. I bought the paint back in March and I thought it was more of a richer, deeper colour than what it actually was. I was a little disappointed once I started painting, but it's better than a pink room!

 Sweet Kallie!

When I went to get Bronson up from his nap I found him with no pants on and his arm half out of his shirt! T-R-O-U-B-L-E.

 Look at those lips!

This morning he was hanging out in my bed as I got ready.

Kallie loves getting in the shower with me. She brought her stool over to the tub, climbed in, and laid down with her horses and was yelling, "shower, shower!"

Playing with her food.

See that meat ball (or "eat balls" as Kallie calls them), Kallie ate ELEVEN of them for dinner! Plus, her carrots and broccoli!

Kallie giving her broccoli kisses. She kept saying "oh no" every time she ate the top of the broccoli and only had the stem left.

Kallie eats her apple slices like they're oranges!

I left the room for literally 2 seconds and came back to find Dupree cuddled up next to Bronson on his blanket! Whenever I take Dupree's blankets away and hide them (I hate dog blankets because they smell) he goes and either takes the kids blankets to lay on, or I'll find him laying on my couches or my bed - neither of which he's allowed on normally. He just likes to cuddle!

Monthly Update: Bronson's 6 months old and Kallie's 21 Months old!

*edited to add Bronson's 6 month weight*

I've been doing monthly updates of Bronson but I'm not sure why I haven't been doing Kallie as well. I don't want to be leaving her out so I'll be doing an update about her along with Bronson every month.

This time I'll start with Kallie.

Kallie at 21 Months old (as of  November 25/11)

    • In the last couple of weeks I can't get over how much her vocabulary has grown! She's now putting together three word sentences. A few examples are: Oh my Daddy, eww stinky baby, duck duck goose, no more mama, no my juice. My favourite one is when I go to change her diaper and she doesn't want to lay down for it she says "no, my poop" or "no my pee".
    • She's starting singing "A,B,C". So far it stops at C but we're working on the next three!
    • I've been putting her on the toilet once a day for a couple of weeks now. She hasn't gone pee or poop on it yet, but she thinks it's hilarious that when she toots it echoes in the toilet bowl.  (Yes, her daddy is proud of her! haha). She will now toot and clap her hands and cheer. It's a start! Maybe if she keeps this up she'll start pooping on the toilet before peeing?
    • I don't know her current weight or height, but about a month ago she was 24lbs. (yes, she's petite).
    • She's wearing size 4 diapers.
    • Climbing stairs is now a thing of the past. Walking up stairs like a grown up is the only way to do it.
    • She loves playing with her kitchen toys and will walk around the house with her pink oven mitt on with a rolling pin in hand, and a play tea pot in the other hand. She loves making pretend food and making everyone take bites of it. (I think Santa needs to bring her a whole kitchen set!).
    • She loves using Bronson's baby swing, jolly jumper, and exersaucer for her dolls and, of course, elmo and grover.

Bronson at 6 Months old (November 9, 2011)

    • He can now roll from his stomach or back onto the left OR right side. (last month he could only go to the right side.)
    • When on his stomach he can now slowly turn 360 degrees.
    • Regardless of how many times I flip him onto his back he will only sleep on his stomach.
    • He loves playing with stuffed animals such as his Tigger or Simba.
    • He can find his soother in his bed (if it's close to him) and put it into his mouth the right way.
    • He thinks it's funny when I sniff his bum to see if his diaper is dirty.
    • He loves watching tv and is glued to it when it's on.
    • His PICC line has been gone for 2 weeks and is now line free! WOOHOO!
    • He was sleeping through the night but for the past 2 weeks he's been consistently waking up at 4-5am. sigh.
    • He's getting rice cereal 1-2 times a day, but since he's been waking up at night I think I'm going to start him on some pureed vegetables with hopes of him sleeping through the night!
    • Wearing size 2 Pampers.
    • Weight - 13.5 lbs
I was only going to put up 2 pictures of Bronson for his update but the sequence of these pictures made me laugh. He was so determined to get that paper!

By the way, do you like the new look of my blog? We had some amazing photos that were provided by The Tiny Light Foundation and were taken by an awesome photographer Misty Dawson Photography & Design. I thought I needed to update the banner at the top of the page with some current photos where Bronson doesn't have any tubes on his face! :)

    The Power of Prayer

Last week on The Dr. Oz Show there was an episode called Medical Miracles. Dr. Oz had Joel Osteen on the show and they were discussing the power of prayer within in the medical field.  I know from experience that there is power in prayer. No question about it. If you didn't see it you should check it out here.

The day before Bronson was born was Mother's Day. We spent the day relaxing with family outside in the sun with no worries and waiting for our little boy to be born.  Less than 12 hours after our family get together Bronson made his appearance into the world. We really had no idea what we were in store for.

Bronson at 8 hours old while waiting for the helicopter.
At first, we were told that he might be transferred to a hospital in either Peterborough or Oshawa depending on if there were any beds available. Then it progressed to him being air lifted to Sick Kids in Toronto. They let me leave the hospital only eight hours after giving birth so I could go to Sick Kids to be with my baby. I remember not wanting to see Bronson be taken to the helicopter so we loaded up our stuff and started driving to Sick Kids. As we were driving down the highway we saw a helicopter fly over us. There's no way to explain the feeling of seeing a helicopter that you know is carrying your eight hour old son to a children's hospital. As a mother you're supposed to be leaving the hospital with a healthy baby, not an empty car seat. Praying is all I could do.

I don't know how anyone could go through such an experience as we did without having faith in God and without having the power of prayer on their side. Prayer is what held us together. Looking back I don't know how we did it. But, I know that God was holding us in his hands.

I believe that God can heal someone without receiving professional medical care, but he also uses doctors, nurses and specialists. Bronson had the best team of professionals and I know that God put all of those people in the right place in order for Bronson to be where he is today.

Sometimes regardless of our faith a situation may not work out the way we want it to. I wish I knew the answer to why bad things happen, but I don't. I've wrote a few posts about Baby Boy Babcock who during pregancy they found out was going to need a liver transplant once he was born. Little Kyle was born on Oct. 24/11 (you can read his mom's story here) and sadly he passed away a few short weeks after he was born from an infection. I know a lot of my readers were following his story and I didn't want to post anything on my blog until his mom posted something on hers. My hearts been heavy for the Babcock family. I don't know how many times a day I think about them and say a little prayer for peace and comfort for them.

All I know is that God has a plan for everyone. Sometimes it's not what we plan for but we have to remember that God is with us and he will carry us through each and every situation we face.

Psalm 91:11 - "For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways; they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone. "

    InstaFriday

Everyone was excited about putting up the tree!

My Grinch Stockings. Bronson almost fit!

Daddy and Kallie playing under the tree and looking at the ornaments.

It's CHRISTMAS! Please note that the pink wall colour is (hopefully) changing to a grey this weekend as mentioned here

Kallie's been taking things out of my recycling and walking around the house with them. These two jugs seemed to be a favourite until mean mommy put them out in the garage!

Kallie wouldn't take off her other shoe and was walking around like this for 30 minutes. Usually I don't allow shoes on in the house but I was so busy trying to get stuff done and she was quiet playing, so why mess up a good thing?

     Sibling Love.

Flowers my hubby brought home for me "just because"!

My Dad, aka Papa, and my brother Taylor watching JibJab ecards with the kiddies. As soon as a tv or computer screen is within view of Bronson he's glued to it!

My aunt gave me these tiny little pasta things that Kallie loves eating for a fast lunch. I usually mix them with butter or a red sauce and she eats them in no time.

I thought it was a great lunch idea until I pulled her out of the high chair and this fell out of the creases in her jeans.
    Mmm.. soother!
